Corporate worship of the Lord Jesus Christ is the primary ministry of the Church. The risen Lord is making all things new by reconciling all things unto Himself. His weekly fellowship with His bride, on the Lord's Day, is at the heart of this global redemptive work. The Lord serves His people by giving Himself.
The Saints of God are called into the Lord's heavenly courts. God draws His people into His presence to commune with them and renew their covenantal bond. Our worship is in response to God graciously drawing us to Himself.
After God summons His people, He receives their prayers of confession. God serves His people by proclaiming over them the assurance of the cleansing blood of Christ. This liturgical work assures the Saints of God's faithfulness to forgive and purge His people of their sins.
The Lord serves His people through the power of His Word. The Saints sing the Word, read the Word, pray the Word, and receive the Word preached. This is preparatory work by the Holy Ghost so that the Saints of God may feast with their Lord as they labor unto the stature of the fullness of Christ.
The Table of the Lord is the pinnacle of our covenant renewal. The Eucharist is the New Covenant memorial of Jesus Christ. The Table is set by Christ for all who are ingrafted into Him. By faith, we feast in peace and drink in thanksgiving. Until Christ's return, we proclaim His victorious death.
The Lord serves His people in weekly worship by giving them Himself. He renews their covenantal bond by grace through faith. Before the Saints of God are commissioned to disciple the nations, a benediction is proclaimed over them. A blessing is bestowed upon them that they may go and bless the nations.
